"Tri-pped pods"

Films: Alien Dawn (2012)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of trucks.

Affiliation:Evil

Summary: The Tripods were by far the most horrifying aspect of 2005's "War of the Worlds" remake. The ominous noise they made combined with their immense power stole the show. But alas, with greatness comes its imitators. And more times than not, said imitators are many layers of pathetic.

History: Coming out of nowhere from what we believe is Mars, these aliens wasted no time in overrunning our cities with massive walkers. Our defenses cannot do much, but there are those who are willing to fight to save the world.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After the leading alien, or at least one of them, is brought down, the alien army takes a major hit. The war rages on, but the resistance is gaining major traction.

Powers/Abilities: The walkers come with machine guns and laser beams.

Weakness: Heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-You'd expect some crappy CGI army of tripods to not get very far. But not only are the machines rather durable, but the actual aliens that pilot them are UNSIGHTLY. Looking like clumps of mutilated flesh with eyes and mouths, these things are as repulsive as they are rarely seen. It's for the best, really.

Trivia: -This film got a sequel in 2014 called "Dawn of Destruction", though it isn't much to write home about.

-Actually, this IS meant to be a modern take on "War of the Worlds". Well...we can't fault it too much for keeping certain aesthetics.
